The initial task of the Project was to develop a suite of documents as a working draft for an intenational standard for software process assessment. This task was completed in July 1995, and the work of standards development is now controlled by the Interational Software Engineering Standards Committee, through the Process Assessment Working Group, ISO/IEC JTC1/SC7/WG10.
The second version of the documents was released for ballot within WG10 in November 1996 as PDTR ISO 15504. Copies of this and later drafts (as they become available) can be obtained from National Standards Bodies or by contacting the Convenor of WG10, Mr Alec Dorling.
Following release of the SPICE documents to the standards community, the SPICE Management Board resolved to release the documents for public distribution. So far as can be determined, intellectual property rights for these documents reside with the individuals and organisations that contributed to their development. In agreeing to take part in the Project, participants agreed to abide by decisions of the Management Board in relation to the conduct of the Project. It is in accordance with this understanding that the Management Board has now agreed to release the baseline set of documents. You may explore the documents and download them through this Web Site.
Please note that the standard has been further developed since the baselining of these documents, and they no longer provide an accurate picture of the current status of the draft standard. However, the Project participants believe that they provide a very useful resource for those interested in process assessment and process improvement, and it is in this spirit that they have been released.
