The joint WG confirmed the Durban meeting reports of 56WG10/148-SC7/WG9/N015 as written and approved the agenda for the Prague meeting. 2 Participants The participants at the joint WG meeting were: Jim Welsh Australia SC7/WG9 Dave Kiang Canada TC56/WG10-SC7/WG9 (Joint WG Convener) Paul Joannou Canada SC7/WG9 Martin Heisler Czech Rep SC7/WG9 Jean-Pierre Legras France SC7/WG9 (part time) Tohru Matsuodani Japan SC7/WG9 Cecilie Loken Norway SC7/WG9 (part time) Bernard Knott UK TC56/WG10 Trevor King UK SC7/WG9 Dave MacKenzie USA SC7/WG9 Leonard Tripp USA SC7/WG9 Apologies received from Takeshi Natsume (Japan), Tomoo Matsubara (Japan), and Bogdan Dejneka (Austria). A revised distribution list for TC56/WG10 and SC7/WG9 is updated in 56WG10/143-SC7/WG9/N011 (2) June, 1996. Communication of this joint WG is generally conducted via E-mail. We request all WG members and associates to provide their E-mail addresses to the Convener. The joint WG members are reminded to reconfirm their participation through their respective NCs to the IEC/TC56 and/or ISO/IEC JTC1/SC7 Secretaries. Non-active members will be dropped from the joint WG mailing list according to ISO/IEC Directives. 3 Joint Product Plan The Joint Product Plan was reviewed and in process of being updated to reflect the vision, objectives, and requirements of the Joint WG. Comments from USA and others were noted. The proposed NWIs in the Joint Product Plan were considered to be premature at this time. The strategy is to use CD15026 System and Software Integrity Levels as the top document. This will guide users on application of software integrity levels for proper assignment and assessment. Instead of putting effort in developing new standards as identified in the proposed NWIs to support CD15026, the Joint WG had decided first to trial run CD15026 in industry with existing industry standards available relevant to software integrity and dependability. Comments on Software Integrity & Dependability Framework presented by Paul Joannou at Durban should be forwarded to Jim Welsh. 4 SC7/WG9 Work Program 4.1 System and Software Integrity Levels The revised CD15026 System and Software Integrity Levels is targeted for completion and submission to TC56 and SC7 at the Dresden meeting in September 1996. Paul Joannou has accepted the responsibility to be the Project Editor for revising CD15026. Comments on CD15026 from UK and Japan and others were discussed and will be incorporated in the revised document where appropriate. Since the integrity concept is based on risk base system, reference will be made to TC56 standard IEC 300-3-9 Application Guide-Risk analysis of technological systems. 4.2 Mapping of Standards Pertinent to Software Engineering Tomoo Matsubara, Project Editor of SC7 Project 07.20.03.01 Mapping of Standards Pertinent to Software Engineering had requested the final disposition of the document DTR 14399, Version 3.0 and advancing this to a TR. WG9 resolved to accept the work done by Tomoo Matsubara and recommended that the SC7 Secretary promote this DTR as a TR. Leonard Tripp had undertaken the task to advise the SC7 Secretary for appropriate action. 4.3 Categorization of Software The SC7 Secretary advised WG9 to resolve the Australian comments on SC7 Project 1.07.22 document DTR 12182 Categorization of Software. Leonard Tripp had taken the task to close this issue. 5 TC56/WG10 Work Program 5.1 Application Guide for Software Aspects of Dependability NC comments were received on 56/478/CDV Draft 300-3-6: Dependability management-Part 3: Application guide for software aspects of dependability. The result of NC voting was approval for recommendation to advance this document to FDIS upon incorporation of appropriate NC comments in the final document. Target date for completion of the revised document for submission as FDIS is September 1996. 5.2 Guide to Software Dependability through the Software Life cycle Processes NC comments were received on 56/412/CD Project IEC 1713 Ed 1: Guide to software dependability through the software life cycle processes. The result of NC voting was approval for a revised CD for recommendation to advance the document to CDV. Bernard Knott, Project Editor of Project IEC 1713 requested members input on how to respond to NC comments and provide appropriate inputs to him by August 31, 1996 for the revision tasks. 5.3 Software Maintainability and Maintenance Aspects of a Dependability Program Project 1EC 1714 Ed 1, 56/406/CD Software maintainability and maintenance aspects of a dependability program was issued in April 1994. This project was delayed under a standards harmonization agreement with SC7 to incorporate the technical contents of this document in a SC7 Project 7.37 on Software Maintenance. An advanced copy of the SC7 WD was distributed in Durban for review. A revised WD was received prior to the Prague meeting but not distributed at the request of the SC7 Project Editor Tom Pigoski. At the Prague meeting the Joint WG Convener Dave Kiang discussed the issue with Tom Pigoski who indicated some major changes in the revised WD resulting from the SC7/WG7 Prague meeting. Tom Pigoski will provide the Joint WG Convener with the latest revision by August 1996 for distribution at the Dresden meeting. SC7 target date for a CD on Software Maintenance is January 1997. 5.4 Guide to Measures (Metrics) to be used for the Quantitative Dependability Assessment of Software The status of Project IEC 1719 Ed 1, ANW Guide to measures (metrics) to be used for the quantitative dependability assessment of software was unknown due to the absence of the Project Editor Bogdan Dejneka at the Prague meeting. 5.5 Dependability of Software for Critical Applications The status of Project IEC 1720 Ed 1, ANW Dependability of software for critical applications was unknown due to the absence of the Project Editor Bogdan Dejneka at the Prague meeting. 5.6 Test Methods for Dependability Assessment of Software The update of Project IEC 1704: Test Methods for Dependability Assessment of Software was assigned to the Project Leader Ray Sears. The Joint WG Convener is still waiting for a first WD targeted for April 1996. 6 Action Items No. Description Action by Target 1 Update System and Software Integrity Levels P.Joannou 96/07/08 and email to the Prague core WG for comments 2 Review framework attached to Durban minutes and All 96/07/15 send comments to Jim Welsh 3 Review Joint Project Plan and provide input to All 96/08/01 Dave Kiang 4 Register for Dresden Meeting All asap 5 Telecon re S&SIL standard All 96/08/15 6 Revise Joint Product Plan and issue via email D.Kiang 96/07/01 7 Complete trial application of revised S&SIL CD D.MacKenzie 96/09/01 and generate summary report 8 Map existing SC7 standards to Joint Product J.Welsh 96/08/15 Plan Framework 9 Email input on IEC 1713 to Bernard Knott All 96/08/31 10 Comments on revised S&SIL document All 96/07/29 11 Email list of issues on revised S&SIL document P.Joannou 96/08/08 requiring discussion 12 Distribute IEC 1713 document for input on how D.Kiang 96/06/15 to respond to outstanding NC comments (Those needing background documents please send request to D.Kiang via email) 13 Issue second revision on S&SIL standard P.Joannou 96/09/01 14 Get IEC/ISO Directives from SCC P.Joannou 96/07/01 15 Get SC7 requirements for submitting standards D.Kiang 96/06/15 (Done through request to SCC) 16 Get SC7 Word Templates for Standards D.Kiang 96/06/15 (Done through request to SCC) 7 Liaison TC56/WG10 continues to maintain liaison with SC65A/WG9.
