Dublin meeting report 1.1 Introduction ISO/IEC JTC1/SC7/WG6 had a successful meeting in Dublin, Ireland, from November 27 (Mon.) to December 1 (Fri) at Dublin City University. 20 members from 15 countries (Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Czech, Denmark, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Korea, Norway, UK, USA) were joined. CD ballots on 14598-1, 2, 3 and 6 were closed just before the meeting, comments with these ballots were discussed and disposed. In order to keep consistency among the 14598 series documents, and to clarify the relationship between each document of the series, pre-meeting and editors meeting will be held before the Prague meeting. Each document will be forwarded after the meeting, reflecting the decision on the issue. 1.2 Major actions and decisions taken at the WG6 Dublin meeting (1) The second CD ballot on ISO/IEC 14598-1: Part 1 General overview was closed by November 22 and accepted by majority (SC7/N 1481). Comments with 2nd CD ballot were discussed and all comments were disposed. But in order to make the document consistent with other documents of the series, and to clarify the relationship with other documents of the series, it was decided that the revised document will not be forwarded to the next stage, i.e. DIS ballot, until WG6 Prague meeting. (2) The first CD ballot on ISO/IEC 14598-2: Part 2 Planning and management was closed before the meeting (November 22) and accepted by the majority (Approve 11+1, Disapprove 5) at least in number (SC7/N 1482). Most of the comments with the ballot were disposed. However, as the problem of overlapping with other documents, especially with 14598 - 3, 4, 5 was pointed out and discussed, and as this problem has been raised and discussed over and over, it was suggested that those national bodies which have objections on the current draft should submit counter proposal by the end of February 96. The decision whether the revised document will be forwarded for DIS ballot or 2nd CD ballot will be made at the Prague meeting. (3) ISO/IEC 14598-3: Part 3 Process for developers was accepted by the CD ballot which was closed before the meeting (November 22) (SC7/N 1483). All the comments were disposed. However, by taking the number of comments and their nature into consideration, revised document will be forwarded to the second CD ballot instead of DIS ballot, after the Prague meeting. (4) New document of ISO/IEC 14598-4: Part 4 Process for acquirers was discussed. All comments were disposed. In order to avoid unnecessary delay on the document, it was decided that the revised document after the Dublin meeting will be forwarded for CD registration ballot when the document is ready. (5) The revised CD of ISO/IEC 14598-5: Part 5 Process for evaluators which was made based on the discussion at the Brisbane meeting was reviewed. As the revision is small, new document will be ready by the end of January 96. However, in order to make the document consistent with other documents of the series, and to clarify the relationship with other documents of the series, the new document will be forwarded for DIS ballot after the Prague meeting. (6) ISO/IEC 14598-6: Part 6 Evaluation module was accepted by the CD ballot which was closed by November 22 before the meeting (SC7/N 1484). All the comments were disposed. However, in order to make the new document include cross reference with other documents of the series, revised document will be forwarded to the DIS ballot, after the Prague meeting. (7) The discussion on the working documents of ISO/IEC 9126-1: Quality characteristics and subcharacteristics will be continued at the Prague meeting. The new document after the Prague meeting will be forwarded for CD registration and CD ballot. (8) The discussion on the working documents of ISO/IEC 9126-2: External metrics will be continued at the Prague meeting. The new document after the Prague meeting will be forwarded for PDTR registration and PDTR ballot. (9) The discussion on the working documents of ISO/IEC 9126-3: Internal metrics will be continued at the Prague meeting. Further decision will be made at the Prague meeting. (10) All comments on CD14756: Measurement and Rating of Performance of computer based software systems (Project 7-36) were discussed and disposed. The revised document will be forwarded for the first CD ballot. 1.3 Meetings plan The following meetings plan was approved. 1996 May 27 (Mon) - 31 (Fri) Prague, Check Republic Confirmed May 24 - May 26 Pre-meeting 1996 November 18 (Mon) - 22 (Fri) Curitiba, Parana, Brazil Confirmed 1997 Spring USA Tentative 1997 Autumn TBD 1998 Spring Singapore Tentative 2.
